Marissa Tufariello is a native of Long Island, New York. She earned her bachelor of science from Touro College School of Health Sciences in New York, where she graduated magna cum laude.
Marissa received her physician assistant board certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) in 2003. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants. Marissa is experienced with vascular ultrasound for diagnosis and intervention and received her board certification as a registered vascular technician (RVT) in 2014. She is a member of the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Since graduating as a physician assistant in 2003, Marissa has worked in vascular and thoracic surgery. She worked at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University on the lung transplant team until 2007. At that point, Marissa joined a general and vascular surgery group, where she was trained in the latest procedures for venous disease.
She is an expert in sclerotherapy for varicose and spider veins, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, stab avulsion microphlebectomy, varithena microfoam ablation, and wound care. Marissa plans to continue to excel in the treatment of vein disease by utilizing state-of-the-art technology with Dr. Edward G. Mackay.
Marissa underwent extensive training in natural hormone optimization and medical weight loss. In 2016, she became a certified BioTE provider, trained in placement of hormone replacement treatment pellets in the treatment of hormone imbalance. She is a provider for the Vivaliti medical weight loss program, as well.
Lastly, Marissa is trained in cosmetic medicine. She is experienced using neuromodulators, such as Botox and Xeomin, and is trained in the use of hand and facial fillers, including Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Ultra, Radiesse, Voluma, and Belotero.
Bethany Berghoffer, a native of northern Virginia, received her bachelor of science from Jefferson College of Health Sciences, graduating summa cum laude in 2003. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is a fellow of the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants.
Since graduating as a physician assistant in 2003, Bethany worked in emergency medicine and eventually joined Edward G. Mackay and Associates, LLC in 2010.
Bethany has trained under Dr. Mackay’s guidance to perform varicose and spider vein sclerotherapy, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, and stab avulsion microphlebectomy. Bethany also provides facial injectable cosmetic services using products such as Botox and Juvederm. In addition, she offers treatment for brown spots and facial veins using intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy.
Bethany is trained in medical weight loss, hormone therapy, and hormone optimization. She was certified in 2016 as a BioTE provider.
Christie Little is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with a master of science in nursing from The University of Tampa. She has a well-rounded background of educational and clinical experience in family practice, pediatrics, dermatology, gynecology, and gerontology.
Additionally, Christie has seven years of experience as a registered nurse in hospital and private practice settings. She is skilled in nursing, coronary care, critical care, medical-surgical, and oncology.
Jill Lane is a licensed practical nurse, specializing in venous disease. A Pennsylvania native, Jill obtained her LPN certification from an Altoona area vocational-technical school’s nursing program and then continued her education at Mount Aloysius College.
Jill has worked in a variety of settings, including eight years as an operating room nurse and four years in the gastroenterology field. Her desire to provide personalized patient service brought her to join Edward G. Mackay and Associates, LLC in 2000 as Dr. Edward G. Mackay’s surgical assistant and nurse.
For more than 15 years, Jill and Dr. Mackay have worked together as a team, treating patients with state-of-the-art venous care in the Tampa Bay area. As an LPN in his practice, Jill assists Dr. Mackay with all procedures related to venous disease.
Jill received her certification as a registered phlebology sonographer (RPhS) in 2017.
Stacy Rice, a Florida native, is a registered diagnostic medical sonographer (RDMS) and a registered vascular technologist (RVT). She received her associate of science in diagnostic medical sonography from Central Florida Institute, where she graduated with honors.
Stacy has more than eight years’ experience in peripheral vascular testing, as well as abdominal, OB/GYN, echo, and small parts ultrasound exams. She gained her experience working locally for HCA and BayCare hospitals.
Stacy joined Edward G. Mackay and Associates, LLC in 2013. Stacy was promoted to the practice’s technical director three years later.
Kimberly Numann is one of our four certified medical assistants. She joined Edward G. Mackay and Associates, LLC in 2014. Kim worked with us as an intern while in college – and she’s been with us ever since. Kim has a terrific work ethic and is always willing to jump in to help her fellow employees. She lived in New York as a child and now calls Florida her home, along with her young son. In her spare time, Kimberly enjoys spending time at the beach with her family and friends.
