DELIGHTFUL OUTCOME
Thirty years ago, busy Sally Wetherell
noticed the first of many irritating spider veins on her legs.
“It runs in my family,” she relates.
“Eventually, they grew large and bulgy. I thought about surgery over the
years, but I was busy working: I managed my husband’s optometry office.”
Sally’s options narrowed last summer: she
developed an embolism. “It was bad enough that my legs looked so bad,” she
comments, “but with the embolism, I realized I couldn’t put vein treatment
off any longer. I didn’t know whom to consult, but my husband’s practice
provided a circle of business associates to advise me. As I gathered
referrals, it became apparent that Dr. Mackay was the best choice.”

NEW FOR VARICOSE VEINS: RF
CLOSURE
Snorkeling, fishing and
splashing through turquoise waves, Charlotte Parker and her family love
their “getaway” place in the Bahamas.
“I stay on the go,
working out at the gym and traveling whenever we get the chance, and my
days are filled with activities for our son and daughter,” Charlotte says.
Charlotte first noticed
varicose veins becoming visible on her legs just before the birth of her
son.
“During my second
pregnancy the veins got worse, and I had to wear support hose – which were
not comfortable in Florida’s heat. I’m only 38 years old and my
fitness program keeps me in pretty good shape. I’m too young to hide my
legs because of varicose veins.”
Researching available
treatments for her problem veins, Charlotte kept herself well informed.
“I was concerned about
the downtime that might be required following a vein treatment,” expresses
Charlotte. “Several nurses I knew from the gym told me about Dr. Mackay’s
excellent reputation as a vascular surgeon and vein specialist.” «Back

ENDO VENUS LASER
TREATMENT....
closes varicose
veins from inside out.
“Varicose veins run in
my family,” relates Lynbeth Swanson, “and in the last few years, mine got
to be a real problem.
“I’m a registered
nurse, so I’m constantly on my feet. My varicose veins caused my legs to
swell, and that caused my legs to ache. Sometimes, the swelling was so bad
that I couldn’t even put on my shoes. Then, after being on my feet all
day, I’d have muscle cramps all night.”
Lynbeth considered vein
treatment several years ago, but was unimpressed with the doctors and
options offered to her. “Everyone wanted me to have sclerotherapy,” she
recalls, “and I know regular sclerotherapy has a high recurrence rate on
big veins like mine. Also, I wanted a vascular specialist, and the doctors
I consulted then were not specialists. Earlier this year, I read about Dr.
Mackay and his innovative procedures for treating veins, and I made an
appointment for a consultation.”

EXCELLENT RESULTS FOLLOWING
VEIN TREATMENT....
“like winning the lottery”
“As far back as I can
remember, I’ve had varicose veins,” shares 65-year-old Helen Mahoney.
“Why, I can even remember wearing support stockings back when I was a
teen-ager!
“As I grew older, of
course, the veins got worse. The veins down the back of my right leg were
so bulgy, they looked like a bunch of grapes! The veins in my left leg
bulged, too, but not as badly. Worst of all, both legs always gave me a
lot of pain, particularly after I’d spent a day on my feet at work.”
Despite her pain, Helen
says she was reluctant to consider available vein treatments. “I’d heard
about people who had worse problems after their veins were
‘fixed,’” she confides. “I decided to wait until I could be sure a
procedure and a doctor were right for me. It didn’t happen till my
husband and I moved to Florida last June.”
Helen explains that
after the couple moved here, several events conspired to overcome her
hesitation.
“I was always
uncomfortable,” she relates. “In Pennsylvania, I got used to wearing
support stockings all the time, but here in Florida, who wants to wear
support stockings in ninety degree heat? To make matters worse, I was so
ashamed of my legs that I had to wear slacks over the support stockings to
cover those unsightly veins.

*RIPPLE EFFECT. Helen says she was
always embarrassed by her bulging varicose veins. “My right leg was
even worse than this,” she confides, “but my left leg was bad enough!” |
“What finally sent me
to a solution was the pain,” she confides. “It was a throbbing, aching
pain – all day. It got so bad that I approached my primary care physician
for his advice, and he referred me to Dr. Mackay, describing him as an
excellent vascular surgeon with an outstanding reputation.”
Edward G. Mackay, MD,
of The Center For Vein Treatment & Laser Therapy, is a board certified

to his patients who suffer from varicose veins and other vascular
problems.
“Not only that,” adds
Helen, “my husband’s cardiologist informed me that Dr. Mackay is the best
cardiovascular surgeon on the West Coast of Florida. That did it,” she
states. “Nothing convinced me like hearing I was being referred to the
best! I made an appointment with Dr. Mackay right away.” «Back

BRING CLOSURE....
To your unsightly varicose veins!
Treatment of unsightly and uncomfortable
varicose veins can produce lasting results … but only if the appropriate
procedure is selected. Lee DeMarsh was fortunate to be referred to a vein
specialist who could offer comprehensive care for her troublesome veins.
Lee says the joys of
motherhood brought her an unexpected “gift.”
“No one in my family
ever had varicose veins,” says the active 44-year-old mother of three,
“but I did. The only thing I can attribute them to is childbirth.
“They became noticeable
about five or six years ago,” she continues. “The veins were concentrated
on my left calf and inner knee. Eventually, they bulged and spread to my
inner thigh. Not only were they uncomfortable, making my leg ache
continually,” she relates, “they were ugly, too. Living in Florida, I was
distressed because I was so self-conscious about my veins that I could
never feel comfortable wearing shorts.
“My gynecologist
informed me years ago that I needed to have the veins treated, because
they’re also unhealthy,” shares Lee. “I checked into a procedure called
sclerotherapy, but when I discussed that option with my doctor, he
cautioned me that sclerotherapy wouldn’t solve my severe vein problems.
When he referred me to Dr. Mackay earlier this year, I wasn’t sure what to
expect.
“At my first
appointment I was very impressed,” shares Lee. “Everyone in the office was
very warm, and Dr. Mackay made me feel comfortable, and he answered all my
questions.”
Edward G. Mackay, MD,
of The Center For Vein Treatment & Laser Therapy, is a board certified
general and vascular surgeon. He has earned a respected reputation in his
field.
“As Lee’s doctor told
her, varicose veins have medical implications beyond discomfort and
unsightly appearance,” instructs Dr. Mackay. “Although the condition is
often hereditary, many times the condition first appears in women during
pregnancy, when the weight of the baby puts additional pressure on the
vascular system.
